Editorial Review for Danny's Family Carousel Car Wash – by Nicole Haas

In Short
While the car gets a rubdown in soft cloth nirvana (no harsh, scratching brushes allowed), customers can wait in Danny's gift shop/convenience store. Guzzle a refreshing beverage, make a quick call or watch exotic fish swim by in an oversize aquarium. Choose the basic scrub for a full exterior wash, interior and glass cleaning or go with the VIP, which includes tire cleaning, fresh-air scenting, polish, wax, sealer and interior vinyl dressing. On empty? Fill up that tank, repair that cracked windshield, tint your windows and get an oil change, all the while enjoying a Krispy Kreme donut in an air-conditioned waiting room.

My husband and I are in the banking world. We often entertain clients and pick them up so our 2 new Volvos are are immaculate. We have no children so it is easy for us to use a car wash and keep them clean...but we are sorry to say we are never going to be able to use the Genie car wash again. We will probably pay more to have a detailer come to our business as we are tired of being intimidated by the window repair man that will not take "no thak you" for an answer. The last visit on Sunday May 31st was the worst...the windshiled is brand new and there are no chips, but he insisted we should have a chip fixed. When I said "no thanks" for the second time he was indignate and obviously not happy. I felt intimidated and uneasy so I went inside the waiting area and watched my car outside through the window and saw him leaning over the car hood on the driver's side like he was still looking for a chip! When we got home I still felt uneasy so I checked and there were three symetrical scratches in the hood on the driver's side that were deep and not there before! We will never return to a Genie Car wash.

Cons: Intimidation and deliberate damage to our car

As a result of getting a car wash here I had to get a $130 wheel alignment. After proof of repairs, they would not even give me a free car wash. That would have cost them only a few pennies for soap and water. Here is the story: I have been usiing this car wash for years. They are now called Genie. The last time I brought my car in, when I drove away, my steering was pulling to the left. Not only is this annoying, it ruins your tires very quickly. The vehicle was handling perfectly before I left it in their care. The next morning I called the manager about it. He said there was nothing he could do. I went down there. He showed me a tape of the front of my car pulling onto the track. Nothing dramatic happened. But when I went to have the wheels aligned, the report showed the left rear wheel was the one that was out of alignment. Knowing this, I could see how this could have easily happened by turning the car off the track at the end of the wash just a few inches too soon. For this the manager had no video. I showed the manager the $130 alignment bill. I showed him that it was posible for the car to have been accidentally turned off the track too soon. This would explain the fact that the left rear wheel was out of alignment and why it pulled to the left. One thing I know for sure is that the car drove fine when it went in, and it didn't when it got out. To make things easy I asked for a couple of free car washes as compensation. This was way less than it cost to fix the problem, but I figured enough already. With almost a day wasted at the shop, who needs more hassles. The manager's response was he couldn't give me anything free. What did he think. This was same grand scheme to get a free car wash? After getting nowhere with the manager, I decided to take the matter to small claims court. Now it could cost them way more time and money. I'll keep you posted. By the way, according to the manager, they have lawyers to take care of things like this. Brilliant!

Pros: They wash your car for you

Cons: If they damage your car, they won't take responsibility
